The two most significant benefits are lighter weight and more rigidity. Thermoformed-ABS kayaks are lighter and more rigid for their weight than rotomolded-polyethylene kayaks. Those two characteristics equate to better paddling performance on the water and make our kayaks easier to manage off the water (e.g. car topping your kayak). A few other benefits include ease of repair, higher abrasion resistance, and better UV resistance and higher heat-distortion temperatures (i.e. they won’t warp or “oilcan”).
